Penguin Playbook radio show, Penguin Gameday TV show starting next week

Youngstown State football fans can catch all the inside scoop on Penguins football with the Penguin Playbook radio show and the Penguin Gameday TV show. Both shows will begin next week as YSU opens the season Sept. 3 against Duquesne.

The Penguin Playbook radio show will air Mondays throughout the season on 1390 WNIO at 5 p.m., while the Penguins Gameday TV show will air Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. on 9 p.m. WFMJ.

The Penguin Playbook radio show, presented by Southwoods Health, will run at Boardman and Austintown Quaker Steak and Lube stores throughout the season. The two-hour show will air live on 1390 WNIO from 5-7 p.m. Monday.

The first hour will feature the third-year football head coach Doug Phillips and play-by-play radio host Bob Hannon. Various soccer student-athletes will appear on the show throughout the season. The second half of the show will focus on Youngstown State’s Olympic sports programs and provide fans with insight into the athletic department. Drae Smith will host the hour-long show.

On Wednesday nights on 21 WFMJ, fans can get an inside look at the YSU football team during the “Penguin Gameday” TV show. The half-hour program, hosted by WFMJ Athletic Director Dana Balash, will feature highlights, introduce YSU student-athletes and assistant football coaches. “Penguin Gameday” is presented by Greenwood Chevrolet of Austintown.
